Practical Rear Mounted Gut-hook Skinner

In our search for the ‘ideal’ working knife for skinning game in the veld, we capitalised on our functional skinner design by placing the gut hook at the rear, resulting in an exiting variation with definite advantages, please refer to the photo attach.

New Skinner Design!

Due to the unusual positioning of the gut hook, we achieved:

  • improved angular control
  • skinning requires much less strength
  • rids the user of the need to rotate/reposition the knife within the hand’s grip to switch between cutting edge and gut hook and
  • cleaner lines, allowing easy entry and exit when used to penetrate, since we have not shaped the gut hook into the blade’s back.

From our original design, we have retained the following standard features:

  • our blades are deeply hollow ground and hardened to an optimum 58 Rockwell, allowing for a superior cutting edge
  • the handle is comfortably shaped with a positive grip, even in the presence of slippery liquid’s and has a positive index finger stop
  • the handle materials are selected for stability and resistance against heat, moist absorption and stains whilst remaining rugged and can therefore easily be cleaned and maintained
  • the blade’s back can also be filed for a non-slip thumb rest, resulting in improved thumb control and comfort
  • our optional deep etching allows for robust images (game scenes, names, dates, logos, etc.) to beautify the knife whilst ensuring that normal use will not damage the image. Also, sharpening will not damage these images when sharpening the knife correctly
  • the beauty, symmetry and uniqueness, only achievable through free hand knife-making
  • life long guarantee on our knives and free sharpening service for knives delivered and collected from our workshop and
  • individually numbered knives and registration for collectors.

Our rear-mounted gut hook skinner has an overall length of approximately 210mm and a blade length of approximately 94mm.
