Nostalgic Slip-Back is Back!
With the advent of lockable blades, first the back lock and later with the re-introduction of the linerlock, the famous and well used slip-back knifes, used by the famous Joseph Rogers, became a rarity in the hand made knife maker’s community. Mass production slip-back pocket knifes however remained popular and freely available with great commercial names like Victorinox using this technology almost exclusively.

At Afri-Thipa, we are proud to announce the release of our hand made ‘slip-back’ pocket knifes at very low prices, from R 400.00. These folders are approximately 153mm opened approximately 90mm closed and have a blade of approximately 67mm and is therefore fit for exports to the UK and Netherlands. These knifes is offered with a variety of ‘Africa’ woods such as wild-olive, tamboti, red-ivory, black-ivory and imported pakkawood. We can also fit more exclusive materials such as bone, horn, warthog and imported woods, if required. The standard 2mm blade is formed from 440B stainless steel, hardened to 58 Rockwell. A 3mm blade is also available. The blade swivels on a 2.3mm brass pin and resists in the open, half open and closed position by a stainless steel back, hardened to 54 Rockwell. The bolsters were formed from stainless steel and soldered onto the brass liners. Etching on the blade and/or bolster is possible. Engraving on the bolster does round the piece of beautifully, as a truly unique piece, obviously in a different class.
